The Beneficiary of the project is the Governorship of Mardin and the Contracting Authority is the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. The purpose of the project is to contribute to the social and economic development of Mardin by improving competitiveness of the tourism industry through a sustainable tourism development strategy and action plan and implementation.

The operation consists of 2 components. The first component is the preparation of a sustainable tourism development strategy’ which will be accomplished by analytical studies and exploratory research, strategy and action plan development. The second component of the operation is the implementation of the strategy and action plan by execution of a branding and promotion strategy and improvement of service quality through training programmes.
